General Surgery

Our department shown commitment and progress during the past 1 year also which is evident by the total number patients treated in our surgical ward and improvement in the overall infrastructure of the department even during the time.

Academic activities

For undergraduates regular OPD and ward bed side teaching with clinical patients is being carried out for all phases with regards to phase -1 students early clinical exposure (ECE) as per new NMC regulations, classes are frequently carried out in our department. Theory classes are conducted in the form of interactive lectures and video demonstrations only with a help of intelligent interactive panel. Small group discussions and roll play are carried out for AETCOM . UG symposium is carried out 1 per month. Self directed learning as part of new NMC regulations is carried out regularly for phase 3 part 1 and part 2 students. Active mentorship programme runs for all phase students in our department for the purpose of assessing the student’s academic progress and giving proper feedback. Students are motivated to participate in ICMR research activities regularly and have been obtained grant from it for the 5 years.

For post graduates apart from regular surgical skills training in elective and emergency setting skill lab teaching is also made regularly for their laparoscopic and hand skill improvement with our dedicated skill lab. Regular Journal clubs, Rare case presentation, Clinico Pathological meeting, Tumor board meeting and clinical case presentation are carried out. Post graduated are motivated to do regular research activity apart from their thesis work and made to present in national and state level conferences .Their research activity also have been published in major journals .
