The Department of Anatomy, at Government Villupuram Medical college was established in the year 2010. The full fledged Department of Anatomy has highly experienced, capable and motivated faculty, state of art infrastructure and facilities to impart high quality, clinically relevant, contemporary education in an experiential learning environment.
As per the Competency Based Curriculum of the National Medical Commission, the Department of Anatomy strives to impart professional knowledge. In addition to traditional teaching methods like didactic lectures, seminars and hands-on dissections and practical’s, the department endeavours to leverage emerging technologies to provide a blended learning experience to students.
The department is constantly involved in exploring and implementing newer teaching-learning pedagogies that enhances the process of learning. Highly engaging academic content in the form of lecture presentations, multiple choice quiz sections, question banks are available.
The department also takes an active role in the development of students’ attitude towards the profession and communication skills via the Attitude and communication (ATCOM) modules.
The department also focusses on conducting good quality research and has undertaken various projects leading to publications in both international and national journals by the Faculty. Students are encouraged to take up research projects and have presented research papers in national and international anatomy conferences.
